Russ Meyer's photographs from the late1950's and 1960's have seldom been seen. "Several photographs are related to Meyer’s early magazine spreads, including Playboy, Some are related to his films, and although they are not film stills, they may have been originally shot as potential publicity photos or adjunct documentation. Other works may simply be photographs of the buxom women he so admired, including his former wives. Just as Meyer became an idiosyncratic, but influential filmmaker, his photographs contributed to the sexual revolution of the 1960’s and 1970’s and helped define a genre in the iconography of sexuality."
