Andres Serrano's History of Sex Vandalized

Four masked men have vandalized “The History of Sex” exhibition in Lund, Sweden, by photographer Andres Serrano.

A History of Sex (Red Pebbles)

The vandals entered the Kulturen Gallery during normal patron hours while shouting in Swedish, “We don’t support this,” plus an expletive. They pushed visitors aside, entered a room where some of the photographs were displayed and began smashing the glass protecting the photographs and then hacking away at the prints. By the end of the rampage, half the show — seven large photographs, valued at $200,000 — had been destroyed.

This is not the first time Serrano's work has been attacked; a print of his Piss Christ was wrecked in 1997 when it was on view at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.
