The first medi spa in Manhattan wholly dedicated to strengthening and grooming a woman’s genital area. Phit — short for pelvic health integrated techniques — is to open this month on East 58th Street.

Dr. Lauri Romanzi, a gynecologist who performs pelvic reconstruction surgery, said she came up with the idea for the spa one day while walking by an outlet of BriteSmile, the tooth-whitening chain. She liked that the stores cater to people with healthy teeth.

So Dr. Romanzi developed her own concept of “pelvic fitness” for healthy women. She said that Phit will help women get “in shape from the inside out.”

At the spa, the signature treatment will be a $150 gynecological exam — in which a client contracts her pelvic muscles around Dr. Romanzi’s fingers — to determine by feel whether muscle tone is weak, moderate or strong.

They recently had their first DIY queer burlesque show! It was a private party but it has been publicly documented.

Londoners will soon be confronted with images of sex, bondage and passion as part of a series of new art installations on Charing Cross Road.

The artworks will appear in the Window Gallery of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Titled The Window Gallery Seduced Show, the exhibition will be viewable from the street 24/7 until January 27 2008. The display will change every Friday evening and feature the work of 19 contemporary artists, and include provocative themes like semi-naked figures bathed in hot wax and modern interpretations of Christ on the cross.

“This is a highly unique and accessible exhibition that will not only grab people’s attention but really make them think about their own and society’s attitudes towards visual representations of sex,” said Curator John O’Hora.

The project is inspired by Barbican Art Gallery’s own exhibition Seduced: Art and Sex from Antiquity to Now, which opens on October 12 2007. Each display has been designed to force viewers to question their attitudes to pornography and sexually unambiguous imagery.

A couple of days ago, Italian activist and writer Tatiana Bazichelli was at City of Women, a festival running until October 13 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Tatiana gave a presentation of CUM2CUT, the Indie-Porn-Short-Movies-Festival that she organizes and curates together with and Gaia Novati in Berlin.

Participants are invited to a four day (October 20 to 24) marathon to release a short porn film, which will be shown during the Berlin Porn Film Festival. The idea is to apply DIY inside the world of pornography, and thus outside the usual power structures of porn. To reappropriate the genre.

Cum2cut is totally free and open. There are just a few rules. First, the videos produced must be licensed under the Creative Commons. Then some requirements: a "@" symbol has to be shown; the Berlin city map has to be shown; the sound of a slap has to be heard; and the sentence "I used to have such a good imagination" has to be said.

During the opening party on October 20, a category-lottery will decide which will be your porn genre, i.e. splatter porn, gothic porn, silent porn, western porn, superhero, dadaistic porn, futuristic porn, horror porn, new wave porn, etc.

This year CUM2CUT features also a Pr0n competition for people who cannot come to Berlin as they can upload the video in remote on the CUM2CUT server. Participants have to deal with pornography using media or creating digital codes or any other video projects.

Like the Porn Competition, the Pr0n marathon is 4 days long. You can choose to participate from 20 September to 20 October, registering yourself on the Pr0n form.

Yesterday night i saw a burlesque show for the first time. Not any show, but the award-winning Australian extravaganza The Burlesque Hour. It was part of the City of Women festival which runs until October 13 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

At the origin of this incredible mix of cabaret, variety, circus and showgirl acts are performer and writer Moira Finucane and director and playwright Jackie Smith. They invited other performers to join them.

Circus star Azaria Universe (founder of The Candy Butchers group) hoola-hooped in full sexy burlesque attire and a full bear, did some bondage-inspired trapeze stunts and had a hilarious take on Bonnie Tyler's hit Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Butoh artist Yumi Umiumare (one of the founders of Dai Rakudakan) danced as a frantic robot, removed dozens of knickers to the sound of Pizzicato Five while keeping her Japanese schoolgirl outfit on, and finally had a strip-tease performance in which she took the stage as shy geisha and left it as a fierce tattooed naked warrior.

The performance in Ljubljana included also cheeky singer Maude Davey and the amazing Ursula Martinez.

With Hanky Panky, a 5 minute choreographed magic strip-tease, Martinez had the audience on their knees. She enters stage fully clothed, performs a trick involving a little red handkerchief which magically disappears and reappears from her jacket pocket. Off goes the jacket. Then the hanky disappears and re-appears from her various items of clothing, which she removes one after the other until she is naked. There's a last hanky trick and she retrieves it from... well, you can guess. If not, the video of the whole performance is online, i watched it 3 times and still have no clue how she does that.

In another of her performance, she lighted a cigarette inside the theater and used it to set fire to both her bra and pants.
